Lucky To Sponsor the Kids’ Fun Run at Oakland Running Festival
Third Annual Event to Take Place March 25, 2012
Oakland, California (December 13, 2011) – Corrigan Sports Enterprises and Save Mart Supermarkets announced today that Lucky Grocery Stores will be the title sponsor of the Kids Fun Run at the 2012 Oakland Running Festival. The third annual Oakland Running Festival will take place on March 25, 2012 and features four other races: full marathon, half-marathon, four-person team relay and 5k. The event has sold out each of the first two years.
The Lucky Kids Fun Run will feature kids ages 1 -12 running one of two distances: 200 yards or .2 of mile. Each participant will receive a t-shirt, medal and food when they finish.
“We are thrilled to have Lucky sign on as the sponsor of the Kids Fun Run,” stated CSE president Lee Corrigan. “Their commitment to the Oakland community has been great over the years and we look forward to working with them for many years.”
In addition to sponsoring the Kids Fun Run, Lucky will also provide fruit, bars and other assorted products along the race course and at the finish line.
“Lucky wants to help support healthy living activities in our communities – so that kids learn to eat right and get the exercise they need to become strong capable students and young adults,” said Lucky Director of Community Relations Don Bean. “We’re proud to be a part of the Bay Area Community and look forward to a successful and fun event.”
Registration for the 2012 Oakland Running Festival is pacing well ahead of last year as CSE expects between 8 - 9,000 entrees this year after more than 7,200 in 2011. The event has received a 98% approval rating from runners each of the last two years.
In two years, the event has generated nearly $5 million for the City of Oakland and close to $500,000 for local charities.
