Rules and Requirements
1) Age Requirements:
Marathon: At least 16 years old
Half-Marathon: At least 14 years old
Team Relay: At least 14 years old
5K: No age restrictions
Kids Fun Run: 12 and under
2) Waiver must be signed – waiver at bottom of registration form (if participant is under 18 years old, parent or guardian must sign the release).
3) Entry fees are non-refundable (sorry, no exceptions)
4) No-shows will NOT be sent t-shirts
5) For your safety, the following are NOT permitted on the course: strollers, skates, hand-held radio/tape/CD players, pets
6) Race numbers and chips required for all races (no chips for Kids Fun Run)
7) The decisions of race director, Gene Brtalik, are final in all matters
8) Marathon participants ONLY: you must be able to complete the course in seven (7) hours
9) Half-Marathon participants ONLY: you must be able to complete the course in five (5) hours
10) There is NO race day registration
11) You may defer your entry until next year’s race with a valid medical explanation; HOWEVER you will be charged a $20 processing fee.

NEW FOR 2011. Active has implemented some new measures that will help protect both the event and their registrants. Below is a screenshot of the waiver page, requiring a registrant to type in their name—which serves as a form of an electronic signature. The registrant should be able to click in the box to type. Mailed or faxed entries must be received by March 1. Electronic forms of the runner/conformation booklet will be available online.
To register in person, visit the Health and Fitness Expo on Saturday, March 26 from 9 am to 6 pm.
If you are picking up a race packet for a friend, the below waiver appears on ALL race entry forms and MUST be signed by ALL participants to enter ANY race. (If you registered on-line, you automatically signed the waiver). If you are unsure that your party has signed this form, please print it out and have it signed.
I, ____________________________ (name of the participant) know that running is a potentially hazardous activity. I should not enter and run unless I am physically fit, medically able and properly trained. I agree to abide by any decision of a race official relative to my ability to safely complete the run. I hereby certify I am in good health, and I have trained to run the distance of the race that I am entering. I assume all risks associated with running this event, all risks being known and appreciated by me. Having read this waiver and knowing these facts and in consideration of your accepting my entry into this running event, I, for myself and anyone entitled to act on my behalf, waive and release Corrigan Sports Enterprises, the Finished Product, Maryland Stadium Authority, their offices, directors, agents, volunteers and employees, the City of Oakland, Mayor and City Council, Department of Public Works, Recreation and Parks, all sponsors, their representatives and successors, from all claims or liabilities of any kind arising out of my participation in this event even though that liability may arise out of negligence or carelessness on the part of the persons or entities named in this waiver. I grant permission to all of the foregoing to use my photographs, motion pictures, recordings, videos or any other recording of this event for legitimate purpose. I understand that bicycles, skate boards, baby joggers, roller skates or inline skates, animals and music devices of any type are not allowed in this event and I will abide by this rule.

The Oakland Running Festival does not allow for refunds or transfers of entry fee.
We all know that injuries often arise during training after we have registered for a race. The Oakland Running Festival has different options should this happen to you. We ask that you make your decision as early as you can to avoid issues and possible loss of fees.
DEFERMENT
If you become injured and cannot participate in the Oakland Running Festival in any capacity in 2011, you may defer your race entry until 2012. There is a $25 processing fee to do so. To take advantage of this offer, please mail a note stating your request along with a check payable to the Oakland Marathon to the address listed at the bottom of this website. (This process cannot be completed via email or phone as we need written confirmation and payment to process your request.) Your deferment confirmation will be listed on our online confirmation page. In late 2011, you will receive a customized race application that you must return to the event headquarters to complete the process. ALL DEFERMENT REQUESTS MUST BE RECEIVED WITH PAYMENT BY March 15th.
DOWNGRADE
If you cannot complete the distance you registered for but would still like to participate in the Oakland Running Festival, you may downgrade to a lesser distance. You will not be given a refund for the difference in entry fee. To do so, please call (410.605.9381) or email (customerservice@corrigansports.com) your request and we will make the change in the system. Your new race confirmation will be listed on our online confirmation page. We encourage you to make this decision early as possible as WE CANNOT ADD RUNNERS TO AN EVENT ONCE ITS CAPACITY HAS BEEN REACHED.
