Information about each of the running groups is listed below.
Lake Merritt Joggers and Striders (LMJS) was founded in 1977 by a small group of regulars training at Lake Merritt near downtown Oakland. The tradition of the monthly Fourth Sunday Run began then; it remains emblematic of our commitment to provide regular races over a fast certified course at low cost. We consider ourselves a community resource, and are recognized as such by the City of Oakland and the Oakland Parks and Recreation Department.
Go WOW Team- Fit Women of the World (the WOW Team) was founded by Coach Stephanie Atwood to bring fitness and friendship to women through running, walking, and racing. The WOW Team offers THE OFFICIAL and ONLY 5K Training Program along with the only Women's HALF MARATHON and a FULL MARATHON WALKING Training Program officially recognized by the Oakland Running Festival. With training in the East Bay and SF/Peninsula Areas, the WOW Team is a great way to go! Follow us on Facebook at Go WOW Team
The San Francisco Road Runners Club is a member of the Road Runners Clubs of America, a national organization that promotes distance running. The SFRRC was founded in 2001 by a group of veteran runners and coaches who share a passion for running and wanted to offer San Francisco a running club that gives back to the city we love.
The goals of SFRRC are to support a healthy lifestyle by making running a convenient part of your busy life, and to promote a smart and injury-free running experience.
Our membership includes almost 500 runners. We have 11 pace groups, ranging from 7:00 minute/mile pace to 12:30 minute/mile pace, 10 trained coaches (RRCA/USATF) to help you attain your running goals, an exemplary Running 101 program for beginners, and training programs for nine full marathons and six half marathons each year.
