The Oakland Running Festival is proud to announce three local running groups as the Official Training Groups for next March's event. Lake Merritt Joggers and Striders and the East Bay Front Runners will handle training in Oakland, while PacWest Athletics will train those in San Francisco and San Jose.
You can also train with groups that are looking to raise money for some great causes: The American Cancer Society and Team in Training. Click on the Run For A Cause tab on the left side for more information.
If you are more interested in training by yourself, check out the Active Trainer tab on the left.
Lake Merritt Joggers and Striders (LMJS) was founded in 1977 by a small group of regulars training at Lake Merritt near downtown Oakland. The tradition of the monthly Fourth Sunday Run began then; it remains emblematic of our commitment to provide regular races over a fast certified course at low cost. We consider ourselves a community resource, and are recognized as such by the City of Oakland and the Oakland Parks and Recreation Department.

East Bay Front Runners and Walkers is a group of lesbians, gay men, bisexuals, transgenders and friends who get together to run and walk in scenic locations on the east side of San Francisco Bay every Saturday morning at 9:00. We follow our exercise with brunch at one of several great local restaurants. We welcome people of all athletic abilities, from casual walker to competitive runner, and everyone in between. We take pride in being friendly and inviting, and we encourage you to come out and see for yourself.
PacWest is an outdoor fitness organization. With endurance and strength training programs for everyone, PacWest is perfect for those who want to stay in shape, train for an event, love the outdoors, or looking for a gym alternative.
